It's a girl!!!
Been a while since I've posted. In the interim, our baby girl has grown to the length of a small zucchini. Actually, we have an official measurement from the last Dr. visit: 7 inches! The web sites say about 6 inches at this stage, so the logical conclusion is that she's going to be tall just like her mom and dad! (That's sarcasm for anybody who doesn't know that we're vertically challenged.) We have narrowed down the name choices and are actually trying one in particular out when we're alone. We are keeping the name a secret, which isn't easy with two very inquisitive grandmas. By the way, in case you haven't figured it out by now, the last Dr. appointment revealed that Tara can now start shopping for frilly stuff. We are having a little girl and we couldn't be more excited! I will post a pic of the newest sonogram and some pics of our 5th Anniversary/Babymoon vacation to Hawaii soon.

Crustacean!
We have left behind the fruits and vegetables, now Baby Ellwanger is being compared in size to crustaceans. At 13 weeks, he/she is the size of a jumbo shrimp. We went to the third official Dr. Appointment today and everything is moving along as scheduled. We got to hear the heart beat for the first time. Wild stuff. 157 beats per minute. Almost as fast as his/her old man's when the Cardinals are playing. Doc said that we get to find out the sex at the next appointment which is April 11th. Until then...

A Blogging We Will Go...
My first attempt at blogging. I feel very 21st Centuryish. I also feel like I have nothing clever to say and that is unfortunate for anybody who happens to be reading this. This is an attempt to keep the family and any friends who have really boring lives updated on the progress of Tara's pregnancy and eventually the progress of our little Ellwanger. Having a kid seems a much more scary task when you put it down in writing by the way. Up to this point it has been a fun ride, but I have been very deliberate in avoiding any thoughts of the enormous responsibility that lay ahead. With that said, here are the facts:
Due Date: September 10, 2006
Today Tara is 12 weeks along.
Baby Ellwanger is supposedly the size of a small lime at this point. (For some reason all the books, web sites, etc. update the size of the fetus in terms of fruits and vegetables. We have already gone through Sesame Seed, Lentil Bean, Raspberry, Kidney Bean, Grape, Kumquat, and Fig.)
Now that you're all caught up, I will attempt to post some pictures of random stuff and see if this blogging thing actually works.
